Crafting an Impactful CV: Your Gateway to Securing Lucrative Freelance Missions
Here are our tips for creating a CV that grabs attention
At the top of the CV, the following should be clearly indicated:
Your location: Adjust your geographic location close to the client. For example, if the client for the position you are applying for is in Belgium, indicate Brussels as your city of residence; if the final client is in Paris, indicate Paris.
Your email address, ideally in the format firstname.lastname@gmail.com, as this appears more professional.
The number of years of professional experience.
Availability: "2 months after contract signing" to serve your notice period with your current client. In reality, this is the time needed to obtain your Schengen visa.
Your Belgian phone number. Never put a Moroccan phone number on your CV when applying in Europe. Use a VOIP solution to obtain a Belgian phone number on your smartphone. Example of a company providing such virtual telephony service e-sim:airalo.com. Your contact calls your Belgian number, and you answer. Just make sure you have a good internet connection for the service to work properly.
Technical content of your CV
Tailor your CV to the job description. Recruiters use "CTRL F" to find the required technologies on the CV. They don't take the time to read the CV initially. If you don't pass the "CTRL F" barrier, it's over. It is crucial to indicate all the technologies you have experience with: the Technology Stack, and emphasize your experience that matches the job description. Using the same CV for all the positions you apply to is a waste of time.
A good CV is necessarily long and comprehensive. The longer it is, the higher the probability of passing the "CTRL F" barrier.
Non-technical content of your CV
Avoid putting a photo of yourself on the CV; it doesn't help.
Do not highlight the Arabic language; instead, emphasize the national languages of the country you are applying to and English.
If you are applying in Belgium, indicate that you are a beginner in Dutch and that you are taking language courses. We recommend installing the free DUOLINGO application and learning Dutch for a few minutes every day. The goal is just to be able to say 4 or 5 sentences on the day of the interview. Demonstrating a willingness to learn Dutch can make a huge difference on the day of the interview.
